Privacy policy
Syvoq exists to give you a clear picture of your money — not to monetize your data. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the control you keep over it. The short version: your financial data is yours, we never sell it, and you can delete it at any time.
What this policy covers
This policy applies to the Syvoq apps for iOS and Android, the web app at app.syvoq.com, and this website, including the free calculators and guides. It describes the personal data we process when you use any of them, whether or not you have an account.
Syvoq is the data controller for the personal data described here. If we ever change how we handle your data in a meaningful way, we will update this page and tell you inside the app before the change takes effect.
Information we collect
We collect the minimum we need to run the product. That falls into three groups: information you give us, financial data you add, and technical data generated by using the app.
- Account information — your email address, display name, and password (stored only as a salted hash).
- Financial data you add — account balances, transactions, holdings, subscriptions, budgets, debts, and goals you enter or connect.
- Preferences — language, currency, theme, and notification settings.
- Technical data — device type, operating system, app version, and crash reports, used to keep the app working.
- Usage analytics — anonymized interaction events (for example, which screens are used), so we know what to improve.
How we use your data
We use your data to run Syvoq for you: calculating your net worth, syncing balances across devices, surfacing recurring charges, and sending the notifications you ask for. We also use aggregated, anonymized usage data to understand which features matter and to fix what breaks.
The legal bases we rely on under the GDPR are performance of our contract with you (running the app), our legitimate interest in improving and securing the product, and your consent where we ask for it — for example, for optional notifications.
What we never do
Some things are off the table permanently, regardless of how the product evolves.
- We never sell your personal or financial data. To anyone.
- We never share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
- We never show you third-party ads.
- We never use your financial data to build marketing profiles.
- We never read your individual transactions except when you ask us to for support.
Analytics and cookies
We use PostHog for product analytics, configured to run through our own infrastructure. Analytics events describe what was used, not your finances — an event may record that a budget was created, never its amount. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
The website uses only the storage it needs to remember your language and theme, keep you signed in, and collect the anonymized analytics described above.
Who we share data with
We share data only with the service providers we need to operate Syvoq — hosting, email delivery, crash reporting, and analytics. Each provider is bound by a data processing agreement, processes data only on our instructions, and is listed with EU data residency wherever the service supports it.
We may disclose data if the law genuinely requires it. If that ever happens, we will tell you unless we are legally prevented from doing so.
Retention and deletion
We keep your data for as long as you have an account. If you delete your account, your personal and financial data is removed from our production systems within 30 days and from encrypted backups within 90 days. You can delete your account yourself from the app settings — no email, no phone call, no retention flow.
Anonymized, aggregated statistics that can no longer be linked to you may be retained.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have rights over your data, and we honor them for everyone, wherever you live. To exercise any of them, use the in-app options or email us — we respond within 30 days.
- Access — get a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Portability — export your data in a machine-readable format.
- Rectification — correct anything that is wrong.
- Erasure — delete your account and data entirely.
- Objection and restriction — object to or limit specific processing.
- Complaint — lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority, in Portugal the CNPD.
Children
Syvoq is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When we update this policy, we will change the date at the top and, for meaningful changes, notify you in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Syvoq after a change means you accept the updated policy.
